You need to set up MFA again to access virtual desktops

Set up Multi-Factor Authentication to access your virtual desktop

Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  1. From https://aka.ms/proofup enter your College email address
  2. You will be routed to the College login page. Enter your College credentials to login
  3. Click 'Next' in the More information required' box
  4. You will be prompted to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app. If you would like to select a different preferred second method of authentication click I want to set up a different methodin the bottom left of the box

2 options:  Choose a different method: phone or authenticator app

  • Phone: After selecting phone you will be able to choose either SMS text message (get a text message with a six digit token code) or phone call (receive a phone call that will prompt you to press "pound" (#))

  • Microsoft Authenticator app: get push notifications on your Android, iOS or Windows mobile phone. Available in the Google Play store for Android OR the App Store for iOS
Install the Microsoft Authenticator App on your smartphone and allow the app to access your camera to scan the QR code that will be generated

Depending on the method chosen, each time you login to your virtual desktop you will be prompted to enter a code received via text, press pound upon receipt of a phone call, or approve a notification via the app.

Access your virtual desktop (after setting up MFA)

You will get an 'Access denied' message if you have not set up MFA

Want to change MFA method?

Go to https://aka.ms/proofup and enter your Madison College email address. You will be automatically routed to the Madison College login page. Enter your Madison College email and password.

Once logged in you can:

  • Update your phone number
  • Delete or add a new authentication method
  • Change your default authentication method

Why MFA?

From off-campus a second factor of authentication is required to access your virtual desktop.

If you try to connect before setting up MFA you will get an "Access Denied" error message.
