Content Editor FAQs

Copy and paste does not format correctly or brings over unrecognizable characters, for example, when copying from Word or from one part of Blackboard to another.

Workaround 1: Use Notepad or another plain text editor option to copy and paste the text as plain text.

  • Copy the text by using keyboard shortcuts or mouse action.
  • Paste the text to Notepad
  • Select the text in Notepad, copy the text using keyboard shortcuts or mouse action
  • Using keyboard shortcuts only, paste the text into the new Blackboard location

Workaround 2: Some content areas in Blackboard include a Remove Formatting button.

  • Highlight the text you want to copy in your Word file, then copy it (CTRL + C).
  • Go to Blackboard, then to the place you wish to paste your text, place your cursor in the box and paste (CTRL + V).
  • Once your text is in the text editor space, highlight everything by pressing (CTRL + A) to select all
  • Then use the “Remove Formatting” option in the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) tools. You can find it on the right side of the top row of icons.

Smarter Measure / Digital Measure Assessment Prerequisite for Online Course Enrollment

You can self-enroll in this course, which may be a prerequisite for taking an online or accelerated course. 

Self-enroll Process

  1. Login to Blackboard. Note: If you've just activated your college network account, you should be able to login to Blackboard after about 5 minutes.
  2. From your my Blackboard page or from your Courses page, go to the Course Catalog and click on the Smarter Measures Assessment folder. smarter measures assessment folder
  3. Hover over the link to the "other_SmarterMeasure" course (Course ID). smarter measure course link
  4. Click the single chevron (arrow) which appears at the end of the course name. Note: Clicking on the hyperlink/name/Course ID will not work - you will probably get an access denied error. 
  5. Click on the Enroll link, which appears when you click on the chevron/arrow. enroll link
  6. Click Submit to Self-enroll. submit button
  7. Click OK to enter the course.

Technical Requirements

Some students report that they get to step 4 in the course and then are unable to view the assessment. For this part of this course, you may need to set your browser to accept 3rd party cookies. See the help pages for your browser for information on enabling and disabling cookies for browser-specific instructions.
