JSTOR images links

JSTOR Images (formerly ARTSTOR) is a digital library of art images and associated information designed to enhance teaching, learning, and scholarship. It includes over 500,000 images from a wide range of cultures and time periods.

Copyright compliant: Instructors may download and use these images in classroom presentations (such as Powerpoints) and link to images in JSTOR. Images may be added to online Brightspace courses that require Madison College login. See Permitted Use policies.

To access JSTOR images, go to Madison College Libraries web page. From Databases - Find Articles page– Select JSTOR images.

Search and Browse

• Perform a Basic Search to search across all data fields within one or all collections. Perform an Advanced Search to search within specific data fields and selected collections.

• To browse the collections, from the Basic Search page, choose All Collections or Artstor collections. You can also browse by object type classification (i.e. photographs) or browse by geography (countries with which they are associated).

• Searching and browsing JSTOR images will return results as thumbnail images. Choose a thumbnail or caption to open the image viewer. The image viewer provides tools for zooming, panning, downloading, saving, citing, and comparing with other images.

Levels of access

• Unregistered users from Madison College can search, save, and print images, and can view the contents of shared JSTOR workspaces of Madison College users.

• Registered users from Madison College can save images to folders in their workspace, add notes to images, and share folders with other Madison College account holders.

JSTOR images stable or remote access URLs

Every image in JSTOR images also has a stable URL and remote access URL associated with it. The image URL can be emailed or added as a link on a Brightspace course website.

Stable URLs

Each item on JSTOR has a stable URL (or permanent link) that is under the item's title on the item page. Stable URLs are a good choice for sharing with a others outside of Madison College.

Remote access URLs

In addition to a stable URL, images on JSTOR images also display a remote access URL when you're logged in through Madison College Libraries.

Remote access URLs are a good choice for sharing with other members of Madison College. Find an item's remote access URL on the item page in the Item Details.

Items that are Open Access or part of public Shared Collections will not display remote access URLs, because they are freely available on JSTOR without logging in.
