Linking to specific e-books in O’Reilly for Higher Education

O’Reilly currently does not have a permalink feature that will consistently allow users access to specific e-books.

You will have to build a URL as follows:

  1. Find the item you’d like to link to in O’Reilly
  2. Copy the highlighted portion of the link in the address bar. This is essentially some version of  title/isbn

O'Reilly address bar link

  1. Paste that portion of the link into the following

https://login.madisoncollegelibraries.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/machine-learning-for/9781789136364/?ar&email=^u

The generated link should allow proxied access to the full view of the e-book for Madison College users.

Accessing shared playlists

To access a shared playlist:

  1. Users should first access O'Reilly through the full collection link: https://login.madisoncollegelibraries.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/temporary-access/?email=^u
  2. Users should then enter the URL for the shared O'Reilly playlist. Here is a sample playlist link to try: https://learning-oreilly-com.madisoncollegelibraries.idm.oclc.org/playlists/8c675f0f-6846-483d-afef-be6f30d1f6d4
