Linking to Gale Databases

Gale Database Links

A Gale permalink can be created to a particular article or publication in Gale databases. Anyone who uses a durable or persistent link must have access to the database from which the URL came. Therefore, off-campus users must be authenticated as part of Madison College.

Create a Gale permalink:

  1. Log in to a Gale database
  2. Locate an article of interest. Click Get Link in the toolbar (pictured below) and a separate browser window will open. Do not use the link from the browser address bar.

  1. Select and copy the entire link.

Gale permalink example

  1. Paste the entire link into your document, Brightspace, webpage, or email.
  2. Test the link.

Notes:

  • These URLs can become quite long and sometimes Brightspace, Microsoft, or other products may cut off long URLs, so be sure to test the links.
  • Gale links are generally stable, however negotiated rights to publications change occasionally.
