A Gale link can be created to a particular article or publication in Gale databases. Anyone who uses a durable or persistent link must have access to the database from which the URL came. Therefore, off-campus users must be authenticated as part of Madison Area Technical College through EZproxy. Off-campus users who click on a Madison College EZproxy persistent link will be prompted to enter their username and password.
Using Business Insights: Essentials: Create a link to allow off-campus access through EZproxy:
- Business Insights: Essentials does not use the Cross-Searchable interface.
- Locate an article of interest and click Share. Clicking Share will bring up a View Bookmark window with a durable URL that will persist from session to session. (pictured)
- Select and copy the entire link.
- Paste the entire persistent link into your document, Blackboard, webpage, or email.
- Test the link.
Using a Gale OneFile: Health and Medicine and Opposing Viewpoints Cross-Searchable Gale databases: Create a Gale Link to allow off-campus access through EZproxy:
- Log in to a Gale database.
- Locate an article or publication of interest. Click Get Link in the toolbar (pictured below) and a separate browser window will open. Do not use the link from the browser address bar.
- Select and copy the entire link.
- Paste the entire link into your document, Blackboard, webpage, or email.
- Test the link.
Notes:
- These URLs can become quite long and sometimes Blackboard, Microsoft, or other products may cut off long URLs, so be sure to test the links.
- Gale Bookmarks are generally stable, however negotiated rights to publications change occasionally.
