WELCOME TO THE LIBRARIES' RESOURCE GUIDE FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS!

  • Are you just starting to learn English? Are you looking for ways to improve your language skills? Browse through this guide and you'll find lots of tools and resources to help you. Use the tabs across the top of the page to navigate through the different sections. 

  • The guide focuses on reading, writing, listening comprehension, pronunciation, and grammar skills, but there are also other library resources you might like to try.  If you don't find what you're looking for, please ask us. 

  • Learning to speak, read, write, and listen to another language is not an easy task.  It takes a lot of work, time, practice, and dedication. Madison College Libraries are here to help you succeed!

OVERVIEW: WHERE TO LOOK FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE RESOURCES

  • BOOKS:  Our book collection includes English and foreign-language dictionaries, thesauruses, grammar books, vocabulary builders, and easy readers, as well as general interest books on a wide range of topics.

  • ARTICLES:  You'll find a variety of print magazines, journals and newspapers at the Madison College Libraries. Many thousands more are available through the libraries' databases.

  • WEB SITES:  The Web has some excellent ELL/ESL sites.  These can help you with every aspect of English language learning, from listening comprehension to pronunciation. 

  • Other WEB RESOURCES:  Blogs, podcasts, and RSS feeds offer still more ways for you to practice your listening, speaking and comprehension skills.
