This gender and sexuality guide provides resources pertaining to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) issues both on-campus and in the greater community. In addition, whether you are interested in exploring LGBTQ studies (for example: taking a class on gay and lesbian literature), or looking for books, films, or articles with LGBTQ content, this guide is here to help you.
The topic of gender and sexuality intersects with many other subjects. Intersectionality is the "interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage," (Definition from the Oxford Dictionaries of the Oxford University Press).

What's a GSA?
"Madison College GSA is a safe place for people of all different gender and sexuality identities to come together and strive toward common goals. We brings students of different sexual and gender identities together to meet new people ... We coordinate various outreach events, dances, movie nights, karaoke and other activities. Our mission is to promote acceptance and education of all LGBT lifestyles throughout the community, raise awareness in regards to sexual health issues, promote women's health, and address bullying and homophobia phenomena."
