YuJa Student Guide: Home
YuJa is a web-based media platform that allows students to create and organize video content for their courses.
Students have the option to use the YuJa mobile app to create and upload videos for coursework. To access the YuJa app, simply download it from the App Store or Google Play.
Once you've downloaded the app, you'll be prompted to enter your organization's information. For Madison College users, this will be your complete Madison College email address (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org).
You should now see Madison Area Technical College listed as the organization and you'll need to click on the blue Sign in Using Single Sign-on button. You will then be directed to the College's same sign-on page where you'll need to enter your full email address along with your password. This is the same email and password you use to login to student email, Blackboard, etc.
You should now see the app dashboard which includes Channels, Record, Uploads and Downloads.
If you're ready to create a video chose the Record option. If this is the first time using the app, you will need to allow the YuJa Mobile access to us the camera on your device.
You will then be prompted to approve access for the app to use your microphone.
To start recording a video, hit the camera icon towards the bottom or the screen. Note there is a reverse camera feature as well as a voice recording option. You also have a few options for resolution.
If you've already created a recording with your device's camera, you can upload it, and other files, to the YuJa platform. To do so click on the Uploads feature and then on the blue upload arrow. You can also simply click on the image in middle of the Uploads page.
You'll need to select the type of media you wish to upload.
Once complete, the file will appear in your Manage Uploads list. In fact all of your recordings, uploaded or recorded with the app, will appear here. You can swipe left to delete unwanted files.
Students can create video recordings within the YuJa platform. You can access YuJa for the first time by logging into the platform directly or by going to your courses in Blackboard.
Once you're logged into YuJa click on the Create Recording feature at the top of the interface.
If you've already downloaded YuJa to your computer, you can click the blue Start button. If this is your first time accessing YuJa, you'll need to click on the download link provided.
Once the file is finished downloading, click on the file to start the installation. Work through the steps to finish the installation. If you need more help with this process, see the installation links available on this guide.
If you're using an Apple device, you might be prompted to allow YuJa permission to use your device's camera, microphone, and/or screen recording functions. Follow the prompts to enable or allow if necessary.
Once installed, the YuJa Software Capture window should appear. You will need to choose either Video Source (your webcam) or Screen (whatever page you choose to share). Take a moment to make sure you camera is working. You might need to select your camera under the Video section of the dropdown menu on the left.
Also make sure you microphone is working. To do so, simply check that the indicator bar is moving when you speak.
Once you are ready to begin recording your video or capture, simply click the read Start button.
Once you are finished recording, or need to pause, refer to the small tool bar that appears, and hit pause or stop as needed.
Once you stop recording, the capture software will ask if you'd like to save or delete.
Once your recording is saved, it will take few minutes for your recording to appear in the Manage Media area. It may appear as "processing" for a few more minutes after it appears.
Students can record a video on other devices and upload them into YuJa. For example, some students prefer to record videos with the camera of their smart phone and upload them into YuJa that way. Other recording devices, such as camcorders, can also be used. Provided that you can transfer the video file onto a computer and/or cloud space in order to access it for uploading later.
