Student Achievement Center Policies: Group Study Rooms

Group Study Rooms

Student Achievement Centers Group Study Rooms

Student Achievement Center group study rooms are for students working with faculty, peer tutors or a group for academic purposes for collaborative learning.  Rooms and equipment are often in high demand.  Students should plan accordingly and in advance.

  • Priority for the Center rooms will be given to students needing academic support as provided in the Student Achievement Center.  General usage group rooms are available in our libraries at Truax, Fort, Reedsburg and Watertown and there may be times when students will be directed to those.
  • All Madison College Policies apply including the Madison College computer use policies, and the Madison College student code of conduct.
  • All users must comply with copyright laws when using and creating materials. Refer to Madison College copyright policies.
  • Do not alter hardware configurations or install any additional software on the Madison College computers or LCD's.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the Group Study Rooms.  SAC staff and other Madison College personnel monitor the use of the rooms.
  • Students should have no expectation of privacy.
  • The rooms are not sound-proof so we ask that students refrain from yelling, talking very loud, etc. to avoid disturbing others in the SAC.
  • Exiting the Center with resources or equipment is considered theft and will be reported to the College and authorities when necessary.
  • Students working with audio in the rooms should keep the volume low or use headphones.
  • Abuse of equipment or group study room policies will result in immediate termination of use for applicable checkout period and repeat offenders of policy will have equipment and room checkout privileges suspended for duration of current semester.
  • Multimedia support and equipment is available in our Truax Library group study rooms only.  Please book a room in the Truax Library if needing that type of support.

  • Rooms and equipment are reserved and scheduled through the Madison College Libraries & Academic Support online booking system.  Requests for assistance/training with booking a room can be provided at the Center service desk.
  • To gain access to your reserved room please check in at the Student Achievement Center service desk.
  • Madison College OneCard Student ID or government issues photo ID is required.  Use is limited to currently enrolled Madison College students.  Faculty, staff and community users are not eligible.
  • Equipment and rooms are available for use during staffed Student Achievement Center hours until 30 minutes before close. All Center equipment or resources used for the session must be returned at the time.
  • Rooms may be reserved for up two hours per day and a total of four hours per week. Reservations can be made for the current week and the following week in advance.
  • One group cannot reserve a room for consecutive (back-to-back) sessions to ensure all students have booking opportunities.
  • The student who reserves the room must accept full responsibility for those items and for resources located in the room. Keys or equipment may not be transferred to another person or removed from the Center. Students will need to read, sign and agree to the usage guidelines.
  • Reservations are cancelled if the patron does not arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled reservation. Please use the online cancellation link received within your email reservation confirmation message to cancel.  Canceling will allow your feelow students an opportunity to book the room if it is unreserved. No shows may affect your ability to reserve rooms in the future.
