What's a Personal Academic Librarian (PAL)?

The Personal Academic Librarian (PAL) aims to provide extra personalized research support to students throughout the semester. Complete the PAL Request Form in the box to the right to get matched with a MC librarian.

How Can a Personal Academic Librarian Help Me?

A personal academic librarian (PAL) can:

  • Be simply a direct email contact for research help or tech support throughout the semester
  • Use videoconferencing tools like WebEx for periodic chat sessions throughout the semester
  • Assist with finding relevant and reliable resources for your assignments from our library databases and other sources
  • Help you build career and life soft skills (e.g. critical thinking, decision making)

What a personal academic librarian (PAL) can't do for you:

  • Perform all the research for you and write your paper
  • Perform advising roles of other departments at Madison College
  • Proctor your exam
  • Be a go-between for issues with your instructor
