College email: Mobile Set Up

Add the Outlook for Android or Outlook for IOS app - Recommended method

OR

Add college email to the email app on your mobile device.

Enter your college account information including username and password. You may need to enter additional information.

email server: 

  • For Office 365 Student webmail and employee email after migration - enter: outlook.office365.com​ 
  • For OWA Faculty/Staff email (prior to migration June 16 2017) - enter: mail.madisoncollege.edu

College email addresses end with @madisoncollege.edu     Madison College domain name = madisoncollege.edu

Add the Outlook for Android app

For the best experience, Microsoft recommends using the Outlook mobile apps. 

Or - Setup your college email in the built-in Android email app

Please read information and warnings before proceeding.

General instructions - your phone options may differ.

  1. Open the email app. Select Settings, then Add Account.
  2. Choose Exchange or Corporate
  3. Enter your college email address and password.
  4. Select Manual Setup and Microsoft Exchange Activesync 
  5. email: enter your email address - yourUsername@madisoncollege.edu
  6. Server field:
    • For Office 365 Student webmail and employees after migration- enter: outlook.office365.com​ 
    • For OWA2010 Faculty/Staff email (prior to migration June 2017) - enter: mail.madisoncollege.edu 
  7. Domain or Domain/Username: varies depending on your Android version.
    • Generally, enter your full email address. 
    • If Domain and Username are separate text boxes, leave the Domain box empty and type your full email address in the Username box. 
    • On some versions of Android, you need to use the domain\username format. 
  8. Username:  yourUsername@madisoncollege.edu (the full email address is required)
  9. Password: enter your password
  10. Security: Select SSL/TLS, Use Secure Connection checkbox is checked. Check Accept all SSL certificates (if seen), Allow security control or permissions if asked. Tap Next  and your information will be verified. 
  11. Select which items you would like to sync. Most users leave this as the default settings. 
  12. Select Finish.

Remember to update your password on the Android too whenever you change your password.

Remove an email account in the built-in Android email app

To change the account information on your Android, you may need to remove and re-add the account.

Your options may vary depending on your Android device. 

  1.  Settings > Apps > email > Settings > More Settings > Accounts
  2. Tap on the email account you want to delete. 
  3. Tap Remove account. 

Add the Outlook for iOS app - iPhone or iPad

For the best experience, Microsoft recommends using the Outlook mobile apps. 

You can also follow the manual setup instructions to add college email to your email app on your iOS device.

Or - Setup your college email in the built-in iOS mail app

  1. From your device Settings, tap Mail > Accounts > Add Account. 
  2. Select Exchange
  3. Enter:
    • email: your email address - yourUsername@madisoncollege.edu
      Email links icon
    • Do not enter anything in the Domain field. Leave this blank
    • Usernameyour email address - yourUsername@madisoncollege.edu

    • Passwordyour password
  4. Tap the Next button. 
  5. Server:
    • For Office 365 Student webmail and employees after migration- enter: outlook.office365.com​ 
    • For OWA2010 Faculty/Staff email (prior to migration June 2017) - enter: mail.madisoncollege.edu 
  6. At the top, tap the Next button. 
  7. Select which items you would like to sync (most users use the default settings), allow permissions, and tap Save.

Remember to update your password on the IOS device too whenever you change your password.

Remove an email account in the built-in iOS mail app

To change the account information on your iPhone or iPad, you may need to remove and re-add the account.

Your options may vary depending on your iOS device. 

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Tap Mail and select  the email account you want to delete.
  3. Tap Delete Account and tap Delete Account again to delete the account.

General instructions - your phone options may differ.

  1. Settings  > email + accounts > Add an account
  2. Choose Exchange
  3. email address: enter your college email address - yourUsername@madisoncollege.edu
  4. Password: enter your password
  5. Press Sign In 
  6. Select which items you would like to sync and select Next. When the data synchronization process is complete, your Inbox will be displayed.

If prompted for additional Settings:

  • Server address field: Check the This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection check box.
  • For Office 365 Student webmail and employees after migration - enter: outlook.office365.com​ 
  • For OWA2010 employee email (prior to migration June 2017) - enter: mail.madisoncollege.edu 
  • User: yourUsername@madisoncollege.edu
  • Password: your password
  • Domainmadisoncollege.edu

Remember to update your password on the Windows Mobile device too whenever you change your password.

Remove an email account from Windows Mobile

To change the account information on your Windows Mobile device, you may need to remove and re-add the account.  General instructions - your phone options may differ.

  1. Settings > Accounts > Your email and accounts
  2. Select the account you want to remove and tap Manage
  3. Select Delete Account and confirm to delete the account

Password Resets

Whenever you change your password, you will need also need to update your passwords for college accounts on your mobile device - or you may get locked out of your college accounts. Contact Student Computer Help or Technology Services with questions.

Mobile device or data plan questions

Check with your wireless service provider and manufacturer with any questions about your device's capabilities or data plan.

Remote Wipe

By syncing your mobile device to the Exchange ActiveSync server, you will gain the ability to remotely wipe data from your mobile device.  Remote Wipe should only be used in the event that your mobile device is lost or stolen.
