App #1: Blackboard Student

  • Improved navigation and notifications, access to courses, assignments, grades and more.
  • New features are rolled out easily and often.
  • Your phone needs one of these operating systems to run Bb Student: iOS 7+, Android 4.0+, Windows 8.1+.  
  • You will need to periodically logout and login to the app. 
  • New- Blackboard Student mobile app feature - add a profile pic. 

You cannot take an online course completely from a mobile device or tablet. Some features of a course are not available through the mobile app. Some course content is not supported on mobile devices, but it's a handy way to stay connected with your course when you're on the go.

Troubleshooting Tip: If the mobile app is not working, first try clearing the app history and cache. Next try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. 

App #2: Blackboard Mobile Learn - for Students or Instructors

Blackboard Mobile Learn (Students or Instructors) - access some of your online course materials in Blackboard using a mobile device. Many IOS and Android devices are compatible: Android, IOS (iPhone, iPad) and some other devices. 

You cannot take an online course completely from a mobile device or tablet. Some features of a course are not available through the mobile app. Some course content is not supported on mobile devices, but it's a handy way to stay connected with your course when you're on the go.

Favorites: A class may be marked as a favorite by clicking the star to the right of its name. Once a course has been marked as Favorites, it will appear under the Favorites tab. That way you don't have to scroll through a long list of classes to get to the ones you need to access often.

Features and Limitations - Mobile Blackboard

Blackboard Mobile Learn and Bb Student are designed primarily for viewing content such as announcements, discussions, grades, some text content like blogs and journals, and some media content. It is not designed for uploading or editing content.

These apps should not be used for: Taking tests or Quizzes

Some content cannot be viewed on mobile devices. For example: 

  • Media such as Flash, Java, or Quicktime video may not play on all mobile devices.
  • 3rd party programs or links (Connect, mymathlab, Films on Demand, McGraw Hill, etc) may not be compatible with your mobile device.

Be sure to use a non-mobile device when taking tests or whenever the content is not accessible on your mobile device.
