I am originally from a rural area of Upper Michigan, and I’m a first-generation college student. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in writing from Northern Michigan University, I worked a variety of jobs for six years before working up the courage to attend graduate school at UW Madison for library and information studies. I know what it’s like to be the little fish in a big pond.
In 2011, after completing that degree, I happily joined the team at Madison College. Most of my time at the college has been spent at the regional campuses, and I am now the librarian for the Eastern region, at the Watertown and Fort Atkinson locations. I enjoy working closely with student workers, tutors and instructors and fostering a sense of connection between our staff and students.
At home, I am married and have an energetic young son. I love hiking with our dog, houseplants and gardening, reading and arts and crafts. I’ve been an active member of a community of international mail artists for almost 20 years, and swap art with friends from around the globe.
