BOOKS AT THE DOWNTOWN LIBRARY

  • The Downtown Library maintains a curriculum-oriented collection of books in support of programs and classes offered at the Downtown Education Center.
  • Check-out of materials requires some form of photo ID (e.g. driver's license, passport, or Madison College OneCard).
  • The loan period for general books and magazines is 4 weeks, and items may be renewed for an additional 4 weeks.

COURSE RESERVES

The Downtown Library maintains a large and well-stocked reserve collection for classes offered at the Downtown campus.

With the exception of a small number of ovenight and 3-day reserve titles, the materials in our reserve collection are on CLOSED RESERVE.  This means that they cannot be removed from the library.

You may search our reserves by course title, course number, or instructor name.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

If you would like to request a book that is not in our Madison College Library collections, or an article from a journal not included in our print collection or our journal databases, please complete the form below.

OTHER BORROWING OPTIONS

Besides interlibrary loan (see box above), there are other options for finding library materials not available in the Madison College Libraries collections.  These include

Proximity to the Central Branch of Madison Public Library and the UW campus, makes these options particularly convenient for students who live Downtown and/or take classes at the Downtown campus.

COURTESY CARD FOR UW-MADISON LIBRARIES

Students with a valid OneCard and enrolled in a degree credit class at Madison College may obtain a free courtesy card allowing borrowing privileges at all UW-Madison campus libraries.

Students should bring their OneCard to any of the Madison College campus libraries and request a qualifying form from the library staff.

To obtain a courtesy card, students will need to present this form, along with their OneCard, at the Card Application Window at UW-Madison's Memorial Library.

Madison College faculty and staff may obtain a courtesy card by presenting a photo ID and proof of institutional affiliation at UW-Madison Memorial Library.
